I read some reviews an the DAC seems to be great. I've been trying to find out if the DAC of the Oppo is as good as the Marantz's, but haven't been able to get a true comprasion of the two in terms of CD audio quality, of course! MacKaneSep 5, Location: albany, ny. And the price was amazing. The seems to be very comparable Location: Chicago suburbs.
I was tempted but went the Marantz cd route and love it so far. Feel I have all the bases covered with those two. Notes seem to hang in the air longer. Have probably listened to 4 hrs today, no fatigue. Dan SteeleNov 26, Dave likes this. Location: Earth. I think it is the wrong question SQ will vary greatly due to things other than the chip itself, including the way the chip is implemented some have a dozen or more possible choices for the board engineers to makethe analog stages, noise isolation, board layout, etc.
So I think the best thing might be to try and buy with a return privilege Oppo has that and then do listening tests - it should be easy to get 2 copies of some CDs, and switch between the two units - get a friend to help so it will be a blind test. Hello all - I have recently acquired the ND Disclaimer - I provide the following to assist any perspective listeners considering buying one - not to try and impress anyone or accomplish anything other than assist to listening community.
I also stress that listening preferences and pleasures are as varied as there are listeners. While their is some obvious objective criteria in benchmarking a unit, beauty is - very much - in the ears of the beholder. My personal view is that ND is beautiful, in its execution, build quality and value.
I have several systems comprised of Levinson, Krell and McIntosh gear. Speakers on this systems is Vienna Acoustics Strauss. Cabling includes Siltech speaker cables, Cardas interconnects and Furutech power cords. I felt this set up would nicely complement the indigenous warmth usually associated with Marantz gear. And it did. Yet, the ND had such exquisite detail, especially on voice, string and piano pieces of high resolution quality.
My speakers are quite revealing so I really was able to perform critical listening.Marantz PM7000N Vorstellung von Hifi Schmitz Koblenz (4K)
Convenience is also - as far as I am concerned - an important consideration for the serious listener. The ND shines here, and the dual clock jitter reduction works exceedingly well, albeit Bluetooth playback loses coherence as it does on virtually every player I auditioned. That is why WiFi was important to me as there is no capacity for ethernet in that particular listening room. The connectivity to a network and usage of the unit with Spotify and Tidal was so easy and intuitive that a caveman can do it my apologies to appearing insensitive to cavemen.
The remote is at first overwhelming but I used it for all set up functions and survived. And no, it is not metal as most of my other remotes are, but that's okay by me. Turning to the CD function, as far as I'm concerned this is a throw in and a nice one.Menu Menu.

What do you think? I'm reading mixed reviews about the RA Nov 24, 48 10, It's your ears that count reviews are only ever a guide. Marantz NA vs. NA Hide sidebar Show sidebar. Thread starter Jimmy Sees Start date Mar 31, Jimmy Sees Audiophyte. Has anyone in this forum actually used the Marantz NA digital players I have the opportunity to purchase either the NA or the NA for the same price and can use some feedback.
I also auditioned the NA but that's twice as much in price in my neck of the woods Jim. Steve81 Audioholics Five I'm entertaining the NA I know the OP is asking for feedback on the Marantz unit but I can't resist recommending a less costly e. My logic is that for network internal or external streaming, FM, etc.
As sterling shoote mentioned, there is Airplay too. It appears thus that the only advantage for the NA would be for its DAC, which can deliver hi-res audio.

Marantz + Roon
I have probably an annoying question for you all out there! Can I also connect it by Optical link at the same time? Which connection takes precedence?? I guess I need to find out if Optical link or interconnects is best! Thank you. Timmy C Distinguished Member. Does the Audiolab have a digital optical input? Assuming it has then you should be able to connect with both analogue interconnects as well as an optical cable.
You would then use the input selector on the pre-amp to determine which connection you are listen to. If the Audiolab does have an optical input then it will have an internal DAC so by choosing to listen to the optical connection you would be bypassing the Marantz's own DAC.
Try both ways and see which you like the sound of best. There's no right or wrong, just a matter of taste really. Oh dear well this I embarrassing! Er hum. There is no optical on nether Audolab pre amp or amp! Timmy C said:. I did wonder! I think you were the chap with the Arcam Black Box weren't you?
You would have needed to keep that in the chain if you wanted to use the optical out of the Marantz.Discussion in ' Audio Hardware ' started by ChristophesSep 6, Log in or Sign up. Marantz NA6005 vs. NA7004
For the moment I use my Oppowhich is great for blu ray, but it has never been able to convince me with music. The Marantz ND seems like a very nice package. CD-playerstreamer and DAC, all in one box. But the SA with something like a Chromecast Spotify is my main streaming service is about the same price if I shop around a bit.
I don't have any sacd's, so I don't really need the sacd functionality. Anyone who has experience with these devices or alternatives I should consider?
ChristophesSep 6, Location: Lexington, NC. It's been a while since I've heard a SA, so I don't really remember how it sounds and I've never used one in combo with a Chromecast. But, I've had a ND here for a month or so now and I've been really quite impressed with the unit. Functionality is great, and the sound is quite impressive and even better it's not too crazy priced. Probably not a lot of people have heard these yet as they are fairly new, but I think it will be a hit for Marantz.
GoldprintAudioSep 6, Yes, it seems to be a very nice and complete package. I just don't know if the ND will sound as good as the SA when playing cd's, which will be it's primary function. How do you like the Heos app? Easy to use with a NAS? I don't have much experience with it. I've used the Bluesound app and was very impressed, but I find the devices a bit pricey.
